Alice sighed as she walked through the streets of the simple merchant town. At her side padded a small framed black wolf. The streets were lined with vendors selling all sorts of things including produce, clothes, flowers, and lots of pretty trinkets. The town was still asleep, and the only people walking the streets were the shop owners and farmers going to start their day's work. She looked dreamily into the pink sunrise and her head was filled with the possibilities of the day. "What shall we do today, Luna?" Alice asked. Luna looked up with gleaming silver eyes and spoke, though none could hear her but Alice. "We could go help Mrs. Berty with the tavern like we did the other day?" Alice frowned as she remembered how her best intentions to help had only cost Berty a day of sales. When the townfolk found out she was a maid that day, they all avoided the tavern. Even the regulars! Luna was the mark of a witch, and everyone knew Alice was one as she never went anywhere without her companion. "Hmmmm, no that won't work." Her face clouded with unhappiness as she thought of how purposeless her life felt. Her parents were monarchs and so she had inherited all the wealth she could dream of. It should have made her happy but instead, she was lonely. She didn't need to work and everyone avoided her because of her history of being a witch. Luna was her only friend in the world. Luna nudged her master's hand with her nose and said, "Cheer up Alice, we will find something to do. Why don't we go hiking in the mountains? You always feel better after that." Alice smiled at Luna's attempt to lift her mood. "All right silly. You know you only want to do that because its YOUR favorite thing to do!"

(minus jewelry ha)
A cool breeze blew in through the open window and hazy sunlight filled the room. The books in the corners had been dusted and re-stacked neatly, the tinctures, potions and jewels were now in their proper places. Mave rinsed her hands in a bowl of water on her nightstand which she had refreshed after her bath that morning. Scry looked up from his preening as he lay on her bed, "Feel better?".
"Yes." Her smile didn't reach her eyes but she removed her apron and walked slowly over to Scry to pet his head. He began purring,
"I let Garen know you were taking the morning off before I returned home last night, so we can go to the market for flowers if you wish."
She let her smile reach her eyes this time as she picked him up and buried her face in his fur, "Thank you, Scry."
At the marketplace Scry would usually disappear for a moment only to return to her side the next but this morning he weaved his wave in and out of the shoppers so he could stay next to her. Mave stopped to talk to several vendors along the way, while Scry flicked his tail impatiently at each stop.
"And how is Scry this morning?" a cheerful, roundfaced woman doubled over to five him a firm pat on the head. He put back his ears and flicked his tail.
"Wench."
"He's enjoying the weather!" Mave grinned, hoping his twitching tail wouldn't give him away. She moved on from the vendor and marveled at the new faces in the market-- her town had been growing and she had been working and traveling for the past three months. "We'll be seeing a lot of new faces in the shop as the season cools and the cough returns," Mave said aloud, looking down at Scry. She looked up and almost ran into a girl in front of her.
"Excuse me." Mave bowed her head slightly and noticed the dog at the girls side. She was a witch too. The girl's dark hair contrasted with Mave's orange locks and freckled face, though they both were fair. Attachments:

Alice and Luna took their time walking through the town as the sun continued to rise. The streets became bustling with people as the morning passed. Luna's tail was wagging from excitement of going into the mountains. Alice giggled. No matter how noble and refined her companion tried to be she couldn't help being excited like a pup when it came to hiking. Distracted by Luna's behavior, she nearly bumped into a girl with fiery orange hair. "Oh I'm sorry!" she exclaimed knowing how frightened a person could be almost bumping into a witch. She sighed inwardly knowing she could never hurt a fly, nor could Luna. Luna's excitement started pouring into Alice's mind. Wondering what had got her even more worked up Luna said, "Shes a witch! Look, a cat! A cat!!" Luna whined and pawed at the brown cat hoping desperately they could be friends. Alice was shocked. She hadn't met another witch in years. "Oh your a witch too!" She exclaimed, and then blushed at her lack of tact.

“Hello,” Mave grinned and bowed her head “I’m Mave-- I’m a potions apprentice here in town, and this is Scry—“ she laughed at the sight of Scry wincing and patiently waiting for the dog to calm down. “I don’t think he’s quite as exciting as your pup.”
